I would give them 10 stars if I could. Every local we talked to said this was the place to go for the best barbecue in town. Amazing barbecue and the best baked beans I've ever had. The owner came by and check in on us. Such a great guy! If you're in Memphis, don't miss this gem.
We ordered the BBQ Bologna sandwich plate with BBQ spaghetti and slaw then the 2 rib 2 wing plate with BBQ spaghetti and baked beans. It was phenomenal. Very friendly staff and quick service. The only reason I'm not doing 5 stars is because the tables had a sticky film and my shirt sleeve kept sticking. It doesn't look like much but I would go back anytime! Also- we had banana pudding and it was so good I would come just to order that alone!
So, first I want to thank the hardworking folks who saw I'd left my purse and kept it safe behind the counter for me until I figured it out and came back for it! That said, the food we had was terrific - spicy ribs (they aren't hot spicy they are flavorful spicy) mustard cole slaw and flavorful beans. Roomy dining room even though there rightly are crowds. Service is quick and friendly.
Best BBQ in Memphis hands down Can't go wrong with anything on the menu Even the sides are good
If you like sauce and a sometime feel - Cozy Corner is the place to go! I came with a group of people at around 11:30am to snag a large table. You order at the front and they will call your name when it's ready. I got the 2 ribs and 2 wings plate with medium sauce. The sauce has just enough zing to it. It was enough for a great lunch meal. I definitely want to try the burnt ends next time. Caramel cake is super good too! Overall, service was quick and gave me a homey vibe. This wasn't my favorite bbq spot, but an experience to try!
I am from Los Angeles so my opinion may matter less to you, but damn these ribs were good. They were fall off the bone tender with a sweet kick from the sauce. If you prefer your ribs dry, this might not be the place for you. I got an extra wing just to try, which was good, but I would've rather had more ribs instead. For sides, I got the corn, BBQ spaghetti, and some fries I stole from a friend. The corn and fries were bomb. Definitely fries you keep ending up eating just one more of until you reach for another one, and they're already all gone. The BBQ spaghetti was alright in my opinion: a little sweet, a little salty, BBQ sauce forward. For any tourists out there reading this, every local I asked said they've never had it in their life before lol, but it's fun to try regional specialties. The place is set up like a fast food place where you order at the counter, seat yourself, and they call your name. The service was very friendly for my visit. The counter staff was helpful explaining things, and when they called my name and realized we had a lot of dishes to take back for a party of 5, they carried our food to our table for us and brought condiments and utensils and stuff for us. The parking lot and dining room are large, so you probably don't have to worry too much about not being able to snag a space even when it's busy.
TL;DR: better than Rendezvous Came on a recommendation from the hotel staff and not disappointed Ordered: 2 ribs 2 wings (5/5): Cozy Corner lives up to the Memphis BBQ expectations. Can really taste the smoke and flavor in each bite. Tender ribs and juicy wings. Fries were good but the cole slaw was a little forgettable Come here. Skip Rendezvous. Cheers, Cozy Corner!
If you're looking for real authentic, non-gimmicky, Memphis barbecue, this is the place. One thing I've learned is most of these flashy touristy barbecue places are all hype. I wish I could've ordered more and tried everything on the menu. But the items I was lucky enough to taste were excellent. The ribs and half chicken are covered in a sweet and tangy barbecue sauce. At least that's the one that I ordered. With no heat. There are different heat levels depending on your preference. The sides taste homemade and definitely not something store-bought or frozen. The desserts are also a must before ending your meal. The caramel cake was a five out of five, and the banana pudding is addicting. All of the staff were super friendly and very accommodating. In conclusion, skip those fancy, trendy bbq spots and come to the real deal.
Don't pass this joint due to the facade. We would have, but went in because of other Yelpers reviews. Don't judge book by its cover. The ribs were fall off the bone with a zesty Memphis sauce. Very tasty meal. Give em a try.
